MGL at World Refugee Day

Mahatma Gandhi Library participated in Houston's annual World Refugee Day held on June 25th at the Baker-Ripley Neighborhood Center. This project aims to raise awareness about the challenges and triumphs that refugees face in the 21st century. Along with raising awareness, the city celebrates the vast cultural diversity in Houston.

As part of the carnival setting, MGL educated the masses on what we do and why we do what we do. This carnival setting also became another good venue to publicize the poster contest for this year.

Through this event, every yearthe celebrate refugees who have come a long way and have made Houston their new home. This event was open to the community and showcased various countries, and cultures through music, art, dancing, children's activities and entertainment.

Special thanks go out to Dick Steele for coordinating our booth for this evening/. Additional thanks go to Atul Kothari for volunteering while in Houston.
