Shraddanjali 2012

Mahatma Gandhi Library is proud to present Shraddhanjali, a memorial service to Mahatma Gandhi, on Saturday, January 28th at Unity of Houston.

Please save the date and join us as we commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary and continue to promote the universal values of peace, truth, nonviolence and love.

Please urge your family, friends and colleagues to attend the event and help us promote by any means possible. We are always in need of volunteers to put together a program so please let me know at your earliest convenience, if you are interested, by contacting Dr. Manish Wani at manishoto@yahoo.com.

Tryst with Destiny

'A Tryst with Destiny' is a historical docudrama based on the events of the freedom struggle (1919-1947) in India. Written by Amita Jha and performed in English, this is a story of the trials and tribulations of our great leaders and their political maneuvering that led to the partition of India and forced a violent migration of 15 million people across borders in search of new homes and identities.

History is a creation of the past events; in fact it is several creations put together. There can be no single version of it. This play is one such version of history based on multiple historical documents, including autobiography of JL Nehru, the diaries of personal secretary of Mahatma Gandhi (in ten volumes by Mahadev Desai), and history of Indian National Congress among many others.
